The function of the Parathyroid Gland

The function of the Parathyroid Gland

The parathyroid gland is four small endocrine glands located in the neck. Each of them is the size of a grain of rice. The main function of the parathyroid gland is to produce parathyroid hormone which controls the amount of calcium in the blood and bones. People who have overactive parathyroid glands suffer from hyperparathyroidism and people have less active glands suffering from hypoparathyroidism.
